Jessica Minh Anh, a PETRONAS scholar, star alumna, former Executive Officer of Cultural and Society of the Student Representative Council at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), and now an official board member of UTP’s International Advisory Council (IAC), recently returned to her alma mater to join a high-profile panel alongside industry titans.
As a visionary in sustainability and innovation, Jessica’s return to UTP marked a powerful moment for the institution. A key figure in the global fashion and hospitality industries, she has produced iconic projects, including the groundbreaking PETRONAS Twin Towers’ Skybridge fashion phenomenon, which brought significant global visibility to PETRONAS.
In this exclusive IAC forum, Jessica sat alongside PETRONAS executives and international experts from prestigious organizations such as McKinsey, Princeton, and Monash. She played an instrumental role in advising the university’s sustainability strategy while mentoring future leaders. The forum’s central focus was on shaping well-rounded global graduates equipped to lead in today’s fast-evolving world.
Collaborating with PETRONAS’ former president and senior executives, as well as esteemed university professors, Jessica’s discourse centered on revolutionizing higher education. She passionately discussed fostering lifelong learning, promoting technopreneurship, and ensuring that graduates are not only highly skilled but also resilient and adaptable to the challenges ahead. Her unique ability to bridge industries—from fashion and technology to sustainability—positioned her as a pivotal voice in the collective effort to shape a future-ready generation.
In addition to her close sessions with the executives, Jessica also took part in an intimate engagement session with UTP’s staff and students, where she provided invaluable advice on cultivating environments that nurture both personal and professional growth. “Resilience is not just about personal strength,” she shared, “it’s about building a culture that allows us to learn from failure, evolve through mentorship, and push boundaries in ways we hadn’t imagined.”
Students and graduates were thrilled to meet Jessica in person, and the energy in the room was infectious. Many eagerly sought her guidance on navigating their own career paths, inspired by her remarkable journey from a UTP scholar to a global icon. More than just an alumna, they saw her as a mentor, role model, and living example of success.
As a member of the IAC, Jessica’s involvement extends far beyond UTP’s walls. Her global network of CEOs, executives, and innovators enables her to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that UTP graduates gain real-world insights from across sectors. Her ability to connect industries, inspire leadership, and help shape future global citizens highlights her vital role in advancing the university’s mission.
During her trip to Malaysia, Jessica Minh Anh also represented UTP at the prestigious Engineering, Science, and Technology Conference (ESTCON), organized by UTP and PETRONAS in Kota Kinabalu.
As part of the Young Leadership Program, Jessica joined an industry panel to share her insights on the evolving gig economy and its role in fostering innovation. She highlighted how adopting sustainable practices, leveraging social media, and embracing non-traditional career paths have become essential strategies for success in today’s fast-paced world.
In her address, Jessica Minh Anh remarked, “As fresh graduates, it’s important to approach the future with optimism, as that is the only path to success. Many people don’t find their passion until later in life, and that’s completely fine. Take risks, try and learn through trial and error. If you fail, it’s part of the learning curve.”
Jessica’s return to UTP also included high-level discussions with other IAC members, where she shared her vision for the university’s continued progress. With her exceptional background in fashion production, technology, and PR, Jessica Minh Anh continues to inspire and lead on the global stage, ensuring that UTP’s next generation of graduates are well-rounded, future-focused, and prepared to lead with purpose.
